West Ham striker Diafra Sakho is expected to return from a shoulder injury for Saturday's Premier League match against Aston Villa at Upton Park.
England forward Andy Carroll could be in the Irons' squad for the first time
this season following an ankle problem after playing in a midweek friendly.
Defender Winston Reid will be assessed after suffering a dead leg during the
draw at Stoke, but Guy Demel remains sidelined.
Meanwhile, Christian Benteke starts a three-match ban after his sending off in
Aston Villa's 2-1 defeat to Tottenham on Sunday.
Gabby Agbonlahor, who was dropped for the game, is likely to come straight
back into the team as the Belgian's replacement at Upton Park.
Philippe Senderos could also return after he made his comeback to training on
Thursday following a thigh injury but Fabian Delph and Alan Hutton remain
out.
Match Notes
Confirmation of West Ham’s impressive recent progress came this week when Sam Allardyce was named manager of the month for October while Diafra Sakho won the player’s award.
Confirmation of West Ham’s impressive recent progress came this week when Sam Allardyce was named manager of the month for October while Diafra Sakho won the player’s award.
With his side positioned comfortably in fifth position, Allardyce’s options
have been further strengthened with the imminent return of Andy Carroll
while Sakho is also expected to be back.
Six consecutive defeats have sent Aston Villa tumbling towards the bottom
three and the Christian Benteke three-match ban hardly helps their cause.
Stat of the game: West Ham have won just five of their last 27 Premier
League games against Aston Villa.
Ian Winrow's prediction: West Ham United 3 Aston Villa 0.
